The Aichelin Vacuum Tempering Furnace is designed for annealing, tempering, ageing and stress-relieving metal components in an oxygen-free, controlled vacuum environment. Precise temperature control helps preserve surface quality, reduce oxidation and ensure a stable, controlled process. The industrial design and engineering of the product were carried out by Kardesign.


The machine’s large scale and its numerous functional units require the careful organization of extensive cabling, piping and hose systems. During the industrial design process, each unit was given a clear and orderly structure. All units were then integrated to create a consistent overall composition and a unified design language across the entire machine. The iconic and distinctive forms developed for the front door transform the machine’s technical character into a strong visual expression, establishing an original and dominant corporate product language for Aichelin.


Demanding process conditions involving high temperatures, pressure, vacuum, heating and water cooling made insulation, sealing, durability and safety fundamental design criteria. Industrial design and engineering were developed as a single technical system, from the main body and door structure to access areas and service solutions. Areas requiring access for maintenance and servicing were clearly defined through color and surface differentiation, while user ergonomics, ease of control and safe machine operation were prioritized.
