NAMLock-10 is an interlock breathalyzer system that checks the driver’s alcohol level before the vehicle is started. If the measured level exceeds the predefined limit, the system prevents the engine from starting, thereby improving driving safety. The industrial design and engineering processes of the complete product family were carried out by Kardesign.
A new form language that is ergonomic, clear, timeless and distinctive was developed for the industrial design of the product family. The removable mouthpiece solution provides hygienic and practical use. A dedicated in-vehicle holder secures the breathalyzer in a suitable position within easy reach of the driver. The three-button interface enables fast and safe operation. The interlock breathalyzer, camera and control unit were designed with a consistent form language, creating a cohesive product family.
The accompanying camera uses facial recognition to verify the identity of the driver performing the test. Its dedicated mounting mechanism allows it to be installed either on the dashboard or directly on the windshield. Its compact form adapts easily to different vehicle interiors.
The control unit is the central component that enables the system to connect securely with the vehicle electronics. Its layered enclosure and mounting engineering are designed to prevent external interference and protect the electronic components. Its slim and refined form provides a secure, organized and elegant installation inside the vehicle.
